Dan Foreman says a person's voting record shows who they are. Let's see who he really is.

My opponent has repeatedly voted for bills that negatively impact Idahoans. He has continually voted against funding the U of I and LCSC, educational facilities, public schools, students who are blind, and teachers. He has voted against commonsense policies that reduce costs for Idahoans. He has also voted against protecting children from abusive households and making our foster system better. He has not shown up for North Idaho; it is time for a change.

Foreman Votes Against Jobs

Voted against the Launch program to help Idaho high school students receive a one-time grant for career-technical programs, or workforce training in designated in-demand career fields. (H24, 2023)

Voted against funding Idaho's 4-H program, which sets up our future generation of farmers and ranches for success. (H24, 2023)

Voted against providing funding for the Resources for the Workforce Development Council, which includes Launch grants. (H772, 2023)

Foreman Votes Against Affordable Housing

Voted to overturn common-sense protections for renters, like requiring landlords to have a vacant property if they collect rental applications and fees. (H545, 2024)

Voted against a bill to allow non-profit organizations to partner with for-profit entities on affordable housing developments and take advantage of other federal financial incentives. The proposed legislation ensures the burden of new workforce housing construction will not negatively impact other local property taxpayers and provides counties with the discretion to "opt-out" of the exemption on a per-development basis. (H760, 2026)

One of five senators who voted no on improving housing affordability. The bill expanded where manufactured homes can be placed and allowed manufactured duplexes to be treated as multifamily homes in zoning ordinances. (H800, 2026)

Voted against increasing starter home supply. The bill removes red tape that discourages first-time homeownership and enables small-lot starter-home subdivisions on residential land, removing local zoning barriers that prevent compact single-family development. It sets reasonable state standards for lot size, frontage, setbacks, and density, while preserving health, safety, environmental, and infrastructure requirements. (S1352, 2026)

Foreman Votes Against Agriculture, Water, and Public Lands
Voted to allow foreign governments and foreign state-controlled enterprises to purchase, acquire, and hold a controlling interest in agricultural lands, water rights, and mining claims and mineral rights. Foreman is willing to sell off Idaho land to foreign governments instead of protecting our local farmers and ranchers. (H173, 2023)
Voted against funding the Idaho State Department of Agriculture, controlling agricultural pests on public and private lands, and creating six state veterinarian positions. (S1372, 2024)
Voted against the Idaho Department of Water Resources request to increase water monitoring and infrastructure developments. (S1411, 2024)
Dan Foreman Votes Against Critical Health Care

Proposed legislation to remove rape and incest exemptions from Idaho’s abortion law. Medical professionals performing an abortion in these cases would face up to two to five years in prison. (S1229, 2024)

Voted for a 5% across-the-board reduction to Health and Human Services and an additional $21 million cut for Medicaid disability services. (S1435, 2026)

Voted to require low-income adults on Medicaid expansion to prove 80 hours per month of community engagement, such as work, volunteering, or education, to receive benefits. This is expected to cut Medicaid enrollment nearly in half when the law takes effect January 1st 2027. (HB 913, 2025)

Voted against allowing twin homes and duplexes to be built on residential lots where single-family homes are already permitted. (S1353, 2026)

Foreman Votes Against Children and Families

One of eight senators who opposed "Benij's Law," which provides a safety review process for children under one year of age to protect them from abuse, neglect, and sexual exploitation. (H776, 2026)

One of four senators to oppose a bill addressing inequities and complaints in the state foster care system (S1247, 2024)

Voted against providing $120 for low-income families to put food on the table for their children during the summer.  (S1445, 2024)

After Idaho became the only state without a maternal mortality review committee to discover ways to prevent maternal deaths, he voted against legislation to revive it. (H399, 2024)

Voted to increase requirements and the administrative approval process for SNAP food stamps, creating unnecessary hurdles for working families to get the assistance they need. (HB730, 2026)

Foreman Votes Agaisnt Public Safety

Sponsored a bill that allows any group to parade in public with open-carry firearms (S1056, 2023)

Voted to strip regulatory powers from cities and counties to create regulations surrounding knives. (H620a, 2024)

Foreman Votes Against Our Law Enforcement

Opposed funding for security, counseling, and other expenses after the homicides of four University of Idaho students. (H222, 2023)

Voted against designating Emergency Medical Services as an essential service and providing funding for rural providers, dispatch systems, and ambulances facing severe staffing and operational shortages. (S1416, 2024)

Foreman Votes Against Education

Voted against pay increases for teachers and classified school employees, such as bus drivers, custodians, and classroom paraprofessionals. (S1205, 2023)

Voted in favor of voucher schemes that divert public tax dollars to private, for-profit, and home schools with little accountability. (H93, 2025)

Voted against educational services for children who are blind multiple times.

(H719, 2024)  (S1138, 2023)

Was absent from voting on a bill to eliminate course offerings for the Idaho Digital Learning Alliance. IDLA is a crucial part of Idaho's educational offerings, specifically for rural schools,  students seeking career technical education, or fulfilling Idaho's graduation requirements. (H940, 2026)

Voted against educational services for children who are blind multiple times. (H719, 2024)  (S1138, 2023)

Voted for the book bounty law that undermines our freedoms and puts libraries and schools across the state at risk for costly lawsuits. This is a direct example of government overreach and infringement on our First Amendment rights.  (H710, 2024)

Foreman Votes Against Higher Education

One of two senators who voted against the state budget providing $178,804,000 in funding for the University of Idaho's educational programs and staff.  (S1344, 2018)

Opposed the 2024 FY College and Universities appropriation bill, which funded four-year institutions like the University of Idaho and Lewis-Clark State College.

(S1176, 2023)

Voted against a state buildings budget that allocated $9 million for University of Idaho facilities. (S1197, 2023)

Voted against the FY 2025 general appropriation bill for four-year higher education institutions like the University of Idaho and Lewis-Clark State College. (H734, 2024)
